What you asking is possible, but RAID on top of LVM is generally avoided. LVM should be the top layer as the whole point of LVM is to provide expandable & dynamic partition sizes. Normally you would configure the Raid sets using hardware raid as this adds a little more protection than your software raid. Also Raid 1 is using mirroring which uses a max of only 2 drives. Also being that you are using a file server, you will probably want to make two stripes then mirror those together as striping gives the best performance. But for really great redundancy you could do a Raid 5 which will yield you about 2.5 TB of drive space with redundancy. It would help us if you defined what your goal is. Are you going to best performance, best performance with ultimate redundancy, and how much space do you anticipate that you will need? What i am trying to achieve by setting up LVM + Raid 1 is to have a single 1.5 TB space, /boot /swap etc & a /home folder which is mirrored via raid 1.
